This is a nice edition of the original Total Beginner for Kids that I had been using for 3 years and absolutely love. In addition to the well-laid-out lessons there's now a grammar and translation section, along with n assessment piece (see "test" in the teacher's manual); Students do learn how to read after covering the 6 lessons offered in the book and also master basic grammar structures.
